While I dream of having a brick and mortar store someday, I just love checking out local boutiques whenever I travel to a new city. During my first trip to Toronto this summer, a "must visit" was a local shop, Bookhou, which carries home and fashion accessories from bags to ceramics. The space is light and airy and with a simple yet warm aesthetic, just like Arounna's work. Her designs are the perfect mix of form and function. I've been a fan of Arounna's well-crafted handmade pieces for a long time. I love her beautiful textile prints whether they are used in her totes, tea towels and cases(I use her adorable large pouch as my camera case).
It was wonderful to meet Arounna and her family. She is just warm and friendly in person, like someone you've known for a along time. I admire her dedication to her craft while balancing family life. This local business is truly a family affair with the love and support of her family.
On a side note, the shop is close to the bustling Queen Street with great restaurants and boutiques. Thanks Arounna for the local tips! While Toronto is known for its China Town, we couldn't resist the Italian food at Terroni.
