Design Love: Hunting and Narud

What cool jars! The first thought that came to mind when I first saw the apex tables by London-based design studio, Hunting and Narud.  The Norwegian-born design duo Amy Hunting and Oscar joined forces to design objects and spaces that have a strong spatial impact. I love how they use of a variety materials in their line of furniture and objects.  The design studio creates products in a range of different materials featuring textiles, glass, wood or metal.

Design Love: Hubsch Interior

 

Minimalist coziness and comfort came to mind when I came across the new collection by Danish interior and design company Hubsch. With a company motto "Where the Happiness lives", it would be delightful to be surrounded by their new Occasion 2014 collection-so beautiful in its simplicity with dose of texture and warmth.

Design Function: To Showcase and Hang Clothes

I'm loving the open design of clothing racks and other systems out there right now. Minimalist approach, yes...but it definitely requires some organization and thought to showcase your favorite wardrobe pieces. Maybe it'll get me to purge the clothing I haven't actually worn in years.Inspired? Now it's time to edit and organize!

Open Shelves Inspiration

 It's the new year...a fresh beginning and with it comes the urge to purge, clean and organize. I want to clean and hide the mess and clutter that I somehow accumulate every year.  There are definitely plenty of beautiful container options (maybe for a later post) to catch and hold everything. But I'm loving the open shelving approach to showcase all the little trinkets,treasures and wares and what ever else you want on these shelves. Given some thought, time and actual arm workout, who knows what essential wares can pop up on one of our shelves? I can see some of our objects and wares from the shop front and center in one of these shelves.And ooh I do spot one of Oji Masanori's brass trivet and Rina Ono's similar wooden coaster!

Design by Bravo!

I love the organic element of wood in the home especially if it's combined with the warm tones of copper. Santiago-based Chilean design studio Bravo! has mastered letting this natural material be the center piece in their no-fuss minimalist lines collection of furniture and home accessories. I'm especially loving their collection of home wares such as the La Familia containers.

Hope you had wonderful 4th of July!We spent some time in the beautiful Adirondack's region for the holiday. After coming from the relentless heat wave we've been having in Southern Cal this past month, it was definitely a change to transition to the cooler rainy weather (and humidity!) in this area.  Even though we didn't get to do much hiking, it was relaxing to stay in a log home surrounded by the lush greenery typically blanketing this region. About a half hour away to Lake Placid (previous home of Winter Olympics) and Lake Champlain, it was a home away from home featuring a charming wood stove and wall to wall pine wood paneling. Whether as an accent wall, wall to wall wooden panels, floors or ceiling, wood somehow adds an element of warmth and coziness to any space.

I'm super excited to come across the amazing spectrum of work by New York-based furniture designer Paul Loebach. After graduating with a degree in industrial design from the Rhode Island School of Design, he established his design studio in New York. Inspired by classic design elements such as the American Shaker style, he blends classic traditional styles and craftsmanship with contemporary design and modern innovation. Combining geometric forms and curved features (check out the details on the legs of the table!), I love the range of work he produces from furniture, home accessories, and I'm especially drawn to the light fixtures.

As he states about his work via:  “I’m interested in design for the basic purpose of giving objects meaning. Design is a structured language that holds a balance between the continuity of recognizable imagery, and the poetic shift of innovation as we adapt objects to our changing lifestyles. The future of design is an embodiment of the profoundly human need to structure our environment as a reflection of ourselves.”
