Textile Love: New Scarves from Ma Poesie

I featured Paris-based accessories line Ma Poesie on this blog a while back, so we couldn't be more excited to be adding this undiscovered gem to our shop. Designed and founded by Elsa Poux, her line of scarves and stationary features unique composition of colors and pattern inspired by different cultures, nature and the arts. I'm always excited to see the prints and color combinations she designs for her collection each season.  These lightweight breezy scarves from her spring/summer collection are the perfect accent for a pop of pretty color this season.

Tapestry Weaving by Maryanne Moodie

We're so proud to present our latest collaboration with the sweet and amazing textile artist and weaver Maryanne Moodie. Inspired by my home state of California's desert landscape, the pieces combine a beautiful neutral palette and desert tones with gorgeous textures.  Hailing from Australia and currently based in Brooklyn, Maryanne divides her time between crafting beautiful weavings, developing beginners weaving kits and teaching workshops around the world. She has created these stunning wall hangings or woven tapestries exclusive to our shop - treasured additions to any space.

New Arrivals: Textiles by Nancy Straughan

As our collection of home goods continues to grow, I'm always on a hunt for beautiful textiles. We're excited to introduce the textile goods by London-based Nancy Straughan! Established in 2013, Nancy creates her own unique range of organic printed fabrics and turns them into functional beauties as personal or home accessories. Each pattern is printed using eco-friendly inks onto ethically sourced textiles.   And every single product is made in England. Beyond trends, inspired by Scandinavian motifs and nature, each print and product is created thoughtfully to last for years to come. Love all the pieces in Vuela! Studio Visit: Niki Tsukamoto of Lookout & Wonderland

It's always a treat to go home to LA to hangout with family and friends. And of course it also gives me a chance to visit some of our local designers based in this great city of ours (ok I'm a lil' bias!). So I was thrilled to visit the new Chinatown studio of fiber artist/maker Niki Tsukamoto of Lookout & Wonderland and see all the indigo goodness she's crafted.

This is my second visit with this talented lady, and I'm always inspired by her passion and enthusiasm for the beautiful craft of Shibori, fiber art and everything else she does (vintage shopping!). Plus Niki radiates such warmth and creative spirit that it's always fun and easy to chat with her about the craft, life and everything in between. Whether it's sourcing textiles/dyes or incorporating different methods (weaving!), Niki shared her insights and thoughtful approach to design and craftsmanship of her beautiful handmade product line. As a tactile person myself, it was great to feel the various textiles in terms of weight and texture and I couldn't stop touching that amazing wool/alpaca yarn in the basket! Whether stirring the indigo dye vat or untying the newly dyed pieces, you can appreciate the materials, process and small details in the creation of such beautiful textiles for daily life. Textile Love: Hopewell

My love for textiles continues with the discovery of Hopewell textiles, a design workshop created by Eliza Kenan and Claire Oswalt. It's wonderful to see the modern interpretation of the traditional craft of quilting in their colorful collection ( made in my hometown of LA!)...worthy not just as a cozy comfy wrap but as a wall hanging.

Textile Love: Woven Tapestries by Maryanne Moodie

I'm thrilled to discover the beautiful textile work by Brooklyn-based Australian maker Maryanne Moodie. Utilizing the traditional craft of weaving, her gorgeous woven tapestries have been featured in many design blogs from Design Files to Design Sponge. I may be little late in the game, but nevertheless in awe of her inspiring work in creating such beautiful wall hangings. She started this endeavor in 2010 as a creative outlet in Melbourne and relocated to Brooklyn in 2013. 

"Her woven tapestries reference contemporary art, couture, architecture and her nostalgia of days gone by with new and surprising results."

Textile Love: LUCKYBOYSUNDAY

It's time some for some colorful playful textiles with the bloomin' colors of spring. And the present and previous collections by Danish line LUCKYBOYSUNDAY may just fit the bill. With a background in fashion and art, textile designers Camilla Koerschen and Camilla Ebdrup founded the line featuring knitted art toys and home furnishings in 2007. According to the designers:

"We try to capture poetry. We adore the unsaid -it inspires your own imagination to create"

Textile Love: New Arrivals from Cotton & Flax

My hometown of LA has been such a hub for emerging and creative talents and makers recently. We couldn't be more excited to add the beautifully made textiles by LA-based Cotton & Flax.  Artist and textile designer Erin Designer founded this line of textile goods in 2010. She graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2008, where she studied fine art printmaking and literature. Combining her background as a printmaker with a passion to craft handmade goods, she is involve in every step of the process in creating natural home goods. She designs the pattern, selects the materials, silkscreen prints and sews from her studio. Featuring a fun modern pattern and natural materials, the tea towels and coasters are great additions to any kitchen. These pieces for the home make ideal gifts for the holidays!One can never have enough tea towels in the kitchen. 

Textile Love: Fiber Art by Sally England

 It's wonderful to see how traditional craft has been back at the forefront of design. The amazing body of work by fiber artist Sally England, reinforces how traditional craftsmanship has been reinterpreted with a modern sensibility. Combining her degree in Applied Craft and Design with a commitment to the craft process, she uses an age-old technique to create a beautiful distinct style of macrame. I am in awe of her stunning work not just for the design aesthetic but for the different textures...especially if you're a tactile person, don't you just want to run up and touch all of 'em? And who can resist her gorgeous macrame hanging planters?I'd love to add them to my collection.
