Fashion Love: Elissa McGowan

Another amazing collection from our friends down under!It's wonderful to discover the beautiful collection by Australian designer Elissa McGowan. Combining beautiful fabrics and exquisite tailoring, she's managed to balance structured tailoring with easy flowing sillouhettes. After graduating from the Fashion Design Studio in Sydney, she launched her first collection in 2013. Fusing her interest in fabrication and textile development, she explores surface techniques and custom fabric development working with European textile mills.

I may not wear a lot of blazers, but I'm coveting the light muted pieces in her collection. I've been drawn to the black and white combinations, but there's something delightful when seeing accents of coral and light dusty pinks getting us ready for our spring season.

Coats, coats, and more coats!

Happy New Year!Hope you had a wonderful holiday season. I spent some time up north over the holidays for a little getaway vacation. It was a little chilly (ok for a Southern Cal girl!) and made me want to invest in a great coat. It may not be coat weather here in San Diego right now since it's warmed up again, but just can't resist adding these beautiful coats in my closet wishlist. I'm especially loving the light grey palette spotted in my 2 favorite style blogs FIGTNY and My Dubio. Of course there's also the classic camel and most of the pieces are on sale... so hard to choose!

Fashion Love: Sayaka Davis

While I do love the sunshine and beach weather (it was in the 80s again today and it's Nov!), sometimes it's just nice to throw on a fall ensemble and bask in the glory of sweater weather. I know it's always greener on the other side, but after seeing the new Sayaka Davis Fall collection, I just want to wear all  her beautiful modern knits. The label was launched in 2012 by the designer, Sayaka Tokimoto Davis. Hailing from Japan, she creates a harmony of sophistication and excitement to design clean, yet modern and unique silhouettes with a keen attention to detail and beautiful textiles. I love her delicate minimalist yet sculptural approach to her jewelry collection...just the kind of pieces I can add to my collection.

Fashion Love: Diarte

Although it feels anything but fall here at home and definitely not sweater weather, I'm still coveting the new collection by Spanish label Diarte.  Founded in 2010 by designer Ana Diarete, the line is known for its elevated knits (with beautiful textures and prints!), quality materials and clean tailoring.  Committed to sustainability and local production, the entire collection is designed and produced in Spain using natural fibers.

Fashion Love: Wrk-shp

Imagine my excitement when I discovered the nautical inspired collection by multi-disciplinary studio Wrk-shp. The studio is run by architect Ryan Upton and architect-turned-fashion designer, Airi Isoda. One part clothing line and the other part product design, the brand offers simple modern objects for the home, clutches and of course the clothes. The Spring/Summer 14 collection features simple tailoring with the right amount of unexpected details inspired by design elements from yachts and boats. I'm coveting pretty much all the pieces... plus they're using my favorite color blue in all its glory with different shades incorporated in most of the pieces.

Fashion Love: Berenik

I'm completely enamored by the modern tailoring (simple unadorned cuts) , limited color palette (love the black/creams/greys) and innovative prints of the spring/summer collection by Swiss label Berenik. The pieces from the line make wearing shorts comfy with a cool sophisticated edge.

According to the label: "We developed the printed fabrics for this collection based on photographs of the experiments and reproductions of them. The three fabric patterns “Burned Holes,” “Shade Of Ashes,” and “Burned Wood” are printed on silk muslin for tops and scarves, on viscose for dresses and tops, on tencel for a coat and shorts, and on cotton stretch for trousers."

Designed by Veronika Brusa, the label combines experimental and wearable pieces bringing forth a collection that is both innovative and easy to wear. They place "great value in realization of ideas, wearability, sophisticated cuts with a comfortable fit and high quality in workmanship and the choice of materials."

Fashion Love: Kaarem

I definitely go through phases in terms of style and clothing. While I do love feminine prints for the warm season, there's nothing like a block of color in a neutral palette. I'm all about comfort and ease especially in this heat. The easy fit of a tunic is always a go-to shape for me. So I was thrilled to come across the stunning collection by emerging Vietnamese label Kaarem with its classic colors and minimalist loose-fitting shapes. Most of the materials are polyester, but the line has achieved an air of  modern elegance for the clean lines and basic colors, accented with thoughtful details in terms of folds and silhouettes. They're closet staples that somehow balance comfortable shapes with structured silhouettes-yes, a tunic dress with a modern edge! I just want to wear all the pieces that somehow complement each other.
